Hi Hello Welcome Back
As local newscasters like to say: It’s Fall Y’all. I guess I want to know, do you even remember subscribing? I know I’ve been a while since a few of you joined. So, welcome! I hope this brings you joy and a new favorite dress!
First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to remind anyone dealing with Seasonal Affective Disorder to start upping their vitamin D and using their sad lights. My light of choice looks like it’s an uncle in a Pixar animated short. It's bulky, would fit right in in a 70’s office, and it works. I like to drink my morning coffee and do my morning internets with it hovering just above my field of view.
If you really need to up your wake up stimulation, I highly recommend this light up alarm clock. I am a chronic oversleeper, and still manage to sleep through this, however, it does up my chances of waking up by at least 70%. This figure is a completely made up, but feels about right.
Now, on to some fun stuff.
I’ve been a Prairie Haux for years now, but with the recent Batsheva x Laura Ashley collaboration, I’ve found myself in a familiar eBay and Etsy Rabbit Hole. I't’s been a few years since I last let myself slide into this one. Boy, oh boy the market has changed within the past few years. Seems like since the success of Batsheva, people have realized they can sell their old dresses for real money now. All the better for us. I’ve found quite a few absolutely perfect dresses that are just a little too small for me or too pricy. They’re below in ascending price order for your convenience. Links are in the titles above each image.
Please check the measurements against your own before buying! As I’ve gone through, I’ve noticed that the numbered sizes aren’t standard across dresses (they never are). This is also my best tip for buying any vintage online, so if you’re not used to it, time to find a measuring tape!
First up, a bright blue one:
Next up, a perfect bubblegum pink:
And now, a sage green micro floral:
This one is perfect and an XL, but I generally don’t wear the lilac in my closet. I’m bummed but this one’s for you now. Keep scrolling if you prefer beige and are more of a M:
A perfect green that made me say “oh fuck me” OUT LOUD when I saw the deep V back with bow:
We’re breaking $100 with this one. It’s a sweet baby pink with mother of pearl buttons up the from this time:
This one’s not Laura Ashley, but the floral was just too good and 70’s not to share:
This dress looks like a nice griege, but it is in fact a micro-polka dot! How fun! How flirty!
We’re maybe halfway through, and here’s a stripe!
I am genuinely hurt and offended that this dress is not my size:
Prices are breaking $150 but the florals are getting ditzier and micro-ier:
I’m getting a message that this email is reaching gmail’s length limit so I guess this will be the last one for now, and it’s an extra special 1970s one!:
That’s all for now! Happy shopping!
